How it's split into sections

You don't have to face 40,320 loose pieces at once. Ravensburger's UK page says it comes as ten 4,000-piece puzzles, and that each design is packed separately. Costco's listing describes ten panels, each showing Pokémon in a different setting, which join into one long picture.

Ravensburger says it "can be built in sections." So you can do one 4,000-piece panel at a time, finish it, and move on to the next.

How much table or floor space you need

Finished, it is about 22.25 feet long and 6.25 feet tall. That's longer than most living rooms, so very few people will ever see all ten panels joined at home.

  • Build one panel at a time. Ravensburger gives the total area as almost 13 m², so one of the ten panels covers roughly a tenth of that (around 1.3 m², or about 14 sq ft). Ravensburger doesn't list the size of each panel on its US page.
  • Leave room to sort. You'll need space next to the panel for its loose pieces as well.
  • Plan where finished panels go. Boards, puzzle mats or a spare floor all work. If you want to show the whole thing, you need a wall or floor more than 22 feet long.
  • Mind the weight. The whole box is about 20 kg (Costco lists 44.79 lb), so think about stairs and delivery.

How long it takes

Ravensburger's own estimate is about 600 hours to complete. For example, at 10 hours a week that would be more than a year. Your time will depend on how fast you puzzle and how many people help.

Who it's a good gift for

  • Experienced puzzlers who have done 2,000+ piece puzzles and want a long project.
  • Pokémon collectors and fans (14+). The panels are packed with Pokémon to spot.
  • Families or puzzle groups who can split the panels. Ravensburger says it suits "individuals, families, or groups."

Not a great fit if you're short on space, new to puzzles, or buying for a young child. Ravensburger says three of the pictures are also sold as 1000-piece puzzles, which make a much smaller Pokémon gift. See Ravensburger's page for those, or the in-stock Pokémon puzzles below.
