Methodology
- Source: the public product listings of 20 puzzle makers' and puzzle shops' own online stores, the same data behind every PieceDrop page. No Amazon or marketplace prices.
- Date: one snapshot, prices checked Nov 2, 2026. History covers Oct 25, 2026 to Nov 2, 2026 (8 snapshots).
- Sample: 8,995 puzzles, US dollars, in stock, with a known piece count. Price is the store's current price (the sale price if on sale), before shipping and tax.
- Left out: flawed-box or mystery listings (23); multi-puzzle sets and packs (132); no piece count or price (69); personalised / made to order (265); same puzzle at a second store (405). Sets and personalised puzzles are left out because their price covers more than one puzzle or a custom print; flawed-box and mystery listings because they are not a normal retail price. A puzzle sold by its maker and by a shop counts once, at the lower price.
- On sale means at least 5% below the store's own compare-at price, the same rule as our deals page.
- Releases count every listed puzzle, in stock or not, by the date the store first listed it, not a press-release date (8,893 puzzles after removing duplicates and catalogue-import days; earliest listing Jan 8, 2014).
- Medians are used for headline prices because a few very expensive puzzles (up to $435.00) pull averages up.
