People on r/Jigsawpuzzles keep asking the same three questions: is a rotating board with drawers worth it, should you buy a rolling puzzle desk or a mat, and do easels actually help your neck? This guide walks those choices. Prices below are from Puzzle Ready (our catalog) and from Buffalo Games and White Mountain product pages, checked on Oct 30, 2026. For the full comparison table of sizes and weights, see our accessories hub.

This page answers the three questions that show up most on r/Jigsawpuzzles ↗. For a side-by-side of sizes, weights and piece counts, use the best puzzle boards and tables hub.
A board that spins (or a lazy-susan base) lets everyone at the table reach the edge without walking around. Drawers hold sorted piles so the work surface stays clear. Drawbacks: heavier, pricier, and a spinner needs room on every side.
Buy one if you share builds, puzzle in a small room, or hate leaning across the table. Skip it if you mostly puzzle alone at a big table and want to spend less — a flat board or mat is enough.

A dedicated puzzle table (sometimes with wheels or foldable legs) keeps the dining table free and often adds tilt, drawers and a cover. A roll-up mat costs much less and stores in a closet, but you still need a flat surface to unroll onto, and pieces can shift if the roll is hasty.
Get a desk/table if you puzzle most weeks and want a permanent station. Get a mat if you need the table back between sessions or you’re trying accessories for the first time. Many puzzlers start with a mat and add a board later.

An easel or tilting table angles the puzzle toward you so you’re not looking straight down. That can ease neck and shoulder strain on long sits. Flat boards are simpler, lighter and usually cheaper.
We don’t test products in-house. The picks below are ones we already track, with prices read from the maker on Oct 30, 2026 (or from our Puzzle Ready catalog cache).

A typical Ravensburger 1000-piece finishes about 27.6 × 19.7 in. Boards and trays rated for 1000 pieces usually offer a work area around 24 × 30 in. Always check your box; other brands cut bigger or smaller. Our puzzle size calculator helps.
A spinner or lazy-susan board lets you turn the whole puzzle toward you instead of walking around the table. Useful in a small room or for shared builds. It costs more than a flat board and adds weight. White Mountain's Spinner Tray S-1000 is one example we price below.
Get a mat if you need the dining table back between sessions and want to spend little. Get a table or board with drawers if you puzzle often, want sorting built in, or want tilt for your neck. Some people own both.
A tilting easel or tilting table brings the picture toward you so you look less straight down. We don't test products ourselves; puzzlers on r/Jigsawpuzzles often mention tilt for neck comfort. Buffalo Games' wooden easel and Puzzle Ready's tilting table are examples with current prices below.
