Vintage Springbok puzzles
Springbok is an American puzzle brand known for art puzzles, odd shapes and tricky designs. Hallmark owned Springbok for many years, until 2002. Puzzles from before 2002 are the ones most collectors call vintage.
What to look for
- Era
- Look for the Hallmark name on the box. That points to a puzzle made before 2002. Older boxes often have a simpler, plainer design.
- Complete or not
- Ask if every piece is there. Good sellers say "complete" or "verified complete" and some have built the puzzle to check. A missing piece cuts the value a lot.
- Condition
- Check for bent or peeling pieces, water marks and a crushed or torn box. A clean box and flat pieces are worth more.
- Sealed vs open
- A sealed puzzle in its original plastic is almost always complete, so it sells for more. An open puzzle can still be great if the seller has counted it.
- Shapes and art
- Round puzzles, odd shapes and famous art reproductions are popular with collectors.
